Smart_EDU Satellite Multimedia and Rapid Transfer of Education is focused on deploying ICT in innovative ways into vocational and life long training. According to the World Bank statistics, distance education is today based for about 80% in a paper form. Only the rest is represented by other media. Thanks to the rapid development of new info-communication technologies, it is a challenge to provide easier channels of education.
Smart_EDU system addresses major critical factors influencing quality and availability of distance education especially as regards long life and vocational training, such as:
1) time (lack of time)
2) passivity vs. interaction (lean back versus lean forward)
3) costs
4) quality of materials (real-time video, multimedia materials, electronic publishing)
5) frequency of seminars
6) possible specialization.
Smart_EDU is aimed at implementing progressive communication technologies, like Digital Television DVB and Internet, combined in a single system into a new educational tool, for wide utilization in the educational process.
